Thief River Falls - Northland Community & Technical College dropped a 36-21 decision to MCAC rival Minnesota West in a non-conference meet Friday afternoon in Thief River Falls. Both teams wrestled shorthanded, with the visiting Bluejays accepting forfeits at 157, 184 and 197 pounds, and the Pioneers accepting forfeits at 141 and heavyweight.
Minnesota West took a 6-0 lead in the dual with sophomore Chris Romero pinning
Tyrese Hicks at 125.
The Pioneers answered with a win by fall from
Payton Jackson over Zechariah Thomas at 133, a forfeit win by
Isaiah Arredondo at 141, and a 15-8 decision win by
Jerimiah Pierre over Chase Dorman at 149.Â
Minnesota West reeled off five straigth wins to clinch the dual. Shane McGraw and Bryce Bickerstaff accepted forfeits for the Bluejays, while Brayden Johnson and Dalton Wagner won by fall over
Raul Chavarry, and
Dale Grindahl, respectively. Â
Rounding out the scoring for the Pioneers was a
Micah Butler forfeitÂ
