Devils Lake, N.D. - The Northland women's basketball team fell to 0-2 on the year with a 73-61 loss at Lake Region State College, an NJCAA Division I program, Tuesday night. The Pioneers trailed 46-21 at the half, but rallied with a 27-13 fourth quarter advantage to cut the final deficit to 12 points.
Northland sophomore Carly Mekash led all scorers with 21 points and she also grabbed 10 rebounds. Also in double figures for the Pioneers were Janie Wunderlich with 12 points, and Holly Steer, with 11 points off the bench. 
Northland will be back in action Thursday to face another division one team, as the Pioneers will host the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats. Opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
