Brainerd, MN - Northland Community & Technical College battled its way to a 25-23 win in the opening set of Friday night's Region 13B semifinal match against the top-seeded Central Lakes Raiders. Unfortunately, the Pioneers couldn't keep the momentum going. The Raiders claimed the final three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-13 and 25-15 to eliminate the Pioneers from postseason play.
Mesabi Range defeated Itasca 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-22 in the other semifinal match Friday night.
Central Lakes defeated Mesabi in straight sets (25-12, 25-14, 25-19) in Saturday's Region 13B championship match.
