Thief River Falls - Playing for the first time in over two weeks, the Northland men's basketball team didn't show much rust in a 79-49 win over Dakota College at Bottineau Friday night in Thief River Falls. The Pioneers and Lumberjacks traded leads early in the first half before the Pioneers broke the game open late in the half with a 36-22 advantage going into the locker room.
The Pioneers held the Lumberjacks under 25 percent shooting, and they held a 62-39 advantage in rebounding in a strong defensive showing.
Offensively, four Pioneers finished in double figures in scoring, led by a 16-point night from
Brenson Alteme.
Neal Garcia added 15 points.
Isaiah Williams, 10 points, 13 rebounds, and Zach Meyer 11 points, 14 rebounds, each finished with double-doubles for the Pioneers.
Northalnd hosts Canadian Mennonite Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
