Pioneers win fourth straight

Thief River Falls - The Northland Women's basketball team won its fourth consecutive game overall and first since returning from Christmas break, defeating Dakota College 76-65 Friday, Jan. 3. The Pioneers trailed briefly in the first quarter before taking the lead for good. 
Sophomore Janie Wunderlich led all Northland scorers with 22 points, six rebounds and six assists. Fellow sophomore Carly Mekash also had a big night with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Also in double figures for the Pioneers were Holly Steer and Emma Duden, with 10 points each. 
Northalnd is back in action Saturday against Canadian Mennonite in day two of the 2020 Pioneer Classic. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
