Thief River Falls - The Northland women's basketball team wrapped up regular season play with a dominant 87-37 win over Lake Superior College Saturday in Thief River Falls.
Sophomore Carly Mekash recorded a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds, and fellow sophomore Janie Wunderlich added 23 points and seven assists for the high-powered Northland offense. 

The Pioneers (13-1 division, 18-5 overall) entered the final weekend of MCAC Northern Division play tied with Rainy River tied for the top spot in the division. The top four teams in the MCAC Northern Division qualify for the NJCAA Region 13B Tournament. For the third consecutive year, a coin toss was used to determine the tournament host, and for the second time in three years, Northland won the toss earlier in the week and clinched home court for the Region 13B Tournament with the win Saturday. 

Northland will face Central Lakes (7-7 division) in one semifinal match-up, while Rainy River will face third seeded Hibbing (9-5 divison) in the other. Semifinal games will be played Saturday, Feb. 29. The Region 13B Championship game will be held Sunday, March 1.
