Northland women sweep weekend games on home court

Thief River Falls, Minn. - The Northland Community & Technical College improved to 7-4 overall and 6-0 against NJCAA Division III competition with home wins over Minnesota West and Ridgewater Dec. 10-11.

The Pioneers defeated the Blue Jays 66-56 Friday night behind a huge night from Keylee Dahl. The Northland freshman from Newfolden came off the bench to score 25 points with 16 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Also reaching double figures in scoring for the Pioneers were Jackie Lynn Taflin and Macy Skyberg, with 16 points each. 

The Pioneers stayed hot on Saturday with a dominant 77-52 win over Warriors. Dahl, Skyberg and Taflin reached double figures for the second consecutive game, with Dahl scoring 18, Skyberg 16 and Taflin 14. For the second consecutive game, the Pioneers had a player come off the bench to record a double-double. In just 18 minutes of playing time, freshman Nicole Sweberg scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Pioneers. 

The Pioneers are back in action Wednesday as they travel to Bottineau, N.D. to face Daktoa College. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
