Northland has perfect road trip with wins over Oak Hills, Vermilion

Ely, Minn. - The Northland Volleyball team picked up a three-set non-conference win over Oak Hills Christian College in Bemidji Friday night, before capping an unbeaten weekend with a four-set win over Vermilion in an MCAC Northern Division match in Ely Saturday afternoon. 

The Pioneers were dominant Friday night, winning 25-3, 25-10 and 25-9 in straight sets. Chloe Kuznia finished with 14 assists, while Cassidy Corbett led the team with six kills and a solo block. Kuznia and Madision Witte added five kills each. 

The Pioneers dropped the opening set at 25-22 Vermilion Saturday. The Pioneers won the second set in extra points 26-24, before pulling away to win the final two sets 25-21 and 25-18. 

Saturday's win over Vermilion was record-setting for several Pioneers who achieved personal records. Kuznia recorded 41 assists, breaking her previous collegiate record of 35 assists. Witte tied a career high with 19 kills against Vermilion. Saturday marked the third time this year that Witte has reached 19 kills. Kylie Solheim was credited with 26 digs, breaking her previous record of 19.
