Thief River Falls, Minn. - The Northland Community & Technical College men's basketball team fell to 0-2 in MCAC Northern Divison play with a 63-55 loss to Rainy River Saturday afternoon in Thief River Falls. The Pioneers trailed by four after 20 minutes were in the books and as many a 17 with 3:51 left to play before cutting the deficit to eight points before time expired. 

Jaylen Webb and Kenny Placide finished in double figures for the Pioneers, with both scoring 14 points. 

Earlier this week, the Pioneers came up on the short end of an 86-76 loss at Hibbing Community College. Zach Meyer, 25 points and eight rebounds; D'mani Nettles 15 points, and AJ Jennings, 12 points finished in double figures during the Pioneers' loss. 

Up next for the Northland Men's Basketball team is a Wednesday, Jan. 12 game at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. The Pioneers' next home game is set for 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15 against Fond du Lac Tribal College.
