Thief River Falls, Minn. - Northland Community & Technical College dominated the opening quarter and never looked back in a 67-30 win over Rainy River Community College in an MCAC Northern Division women's basketball game Saturday in Thief River Falls.

The Voyageurs led 4-2 after an Arcayda Conway jump shot found the bottom of the net with 7:28 left to play in the opening quarter. It would turn out to be their only lead of the game their final points of the first quarter. The Pioneers ended the opening quarter on an 18-0 run with five different players scoring during that stretch. 

The Voyageurs were able to hold their own in the second period and they cut the deficit to 15 points as the teams headed to the locker room. Already up 31-16 at the half, the Pioneers broke the game open in the third quarter with a 17-6 scoring edge that included an 11-0 run over the final 6:59. 

The Pioneers kept the pressure on the fourth quarter, outscoring the Voyaguers 19-8 to close out the lopsided win. 

Kasey Stegman and Keylee Dahl reached double figures in scoring for the Pioneers, scoring 22 and 13 points, respectively. 

Up next for the Pioneers is a Sunday, Jan. 16 trip to Dakota College at Bottineau. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
