Thief River Falls, Minn. - The Northland Community & Technical College Men's basketball team rallied from a seven-point first halftime deficit to defeat the Mesabi Range Norsemen 57-55 in an MCAC Northern Division game Saturday night at the Northland gym.
The Pioneers trailed by as many as 10 points in the opening half and as many as 12 in the second half. Trailing 39-27 with 16:15 left to play, the Pioneers went on a 15-0 run over the next eight minutes to take a 42-39 lead. The game featured five lead changes and two ties over the final eight minutes as the Pioneers hung on for the two-point win.
Mesabi Range's Mark Campbell II led all scorers with 20 points.
The Pioneers had three players reach double figures in scoring.
Quincy Leday scored 17 points and collected six rebounds.
Zack Meyer scored 13 points and finished with seven rebounds; and
Jaylen Webb scored 10 points with four rebounds during his 20 minutes of work coming off the bench.
The Pioneers' wrap up their 2021-22 home schedule Wednesday night as they host the Hibbing Cardinals at 7:30 p.m.
