Thief River Falls -
Northland Community & Technical College defeated Alexandria Technical & Community College in four sets Wednesday night at the Northland Gym.
The Pioneers won the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-17, respectively.
The Legends, who brought a more than respectible 4-4 record into the contest as a first-year MCAC program, claimed the third set 27-25 to keep the match alive.
The Pioneers bounced back to win the fourth set 25-17 to clinch the win.
Several Pioneers had big nights in the four-set win. Reigning MCAC North Defensive Player of the Week
Haven Beckett recorded 17 digs and an assist. Also finishing in double-digits in digs were
Sunny Edin, 18,
Grace Loeslie, 15,
Chloe Kuznia 13, and
Madison Witte 10.
Kuznia had 40 assists and five kills from her post as the team's setter. Hitters Witte and
Giselle Cole finished in double figures in kills with 15 and 14, respectively.
The Pioneers are back on the road this weekend with matches at Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College on Friday at 6:30 p.m., and at Minnesota North College Hibbing Saturday at noon.
