Grand Rapids, Minn. - 

The Northland volleyball team's season-high six-match winning streak came to an end Friday night in Grand Rapids with the Pioneers dropping a 3-1 decision to the host Itasca Vikings.     
Itasca came out on top in a back-and-forth opening set 25-23. Northland answered in the second set with a 25-23 win of its own to tie the match at one set for each team.     
Itasca claimed the third set 25-23 and pulled away late in the fourth set with a 25-15 win to clinch the four-set victory.     
Northland sophomores Madison Witte and Chloe Kuznia had huge nights in the loss. Witte recorded 19 kills, while Kuznia finished with 32 assists and 12 digs.     
Things don't get any easier for the Pioneers. On Wednesday, the team travels to Central Lakes (Brainerd) to face the conference-leading Raiders.     
The Pioneers return home Saturday to face Minnesota North - Mesabi Range in a noon match.
