Grand Rapids, Minn. - 

The Northland Community & Technical College women's basketball team won its fifth straight game overall and improved to 2-0 in MCAC Northern Division play with a 75-50 win at Minnesota North College - Itasca Wednesday night. 

The Pioneers never trailed during Wednesday night's contest. They started the game on a 5-0 run and led 21-8 after one 10-minute quarter was in the books. They led 34-21 at the break and the lead was 55-37 after three quarters were in the books. 

Northland sophomore Casey Stegman led all scorers with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Also in double figures for the Pioneers were Riley Mooney, with 17 points, and Emma Osborn, with 11 points. 

Both teams entered Wednesday's game with 1-0 records in MCAC North play. The Pioneers improved to 2-0 against MCAC North teams and 7-8 overall, while the Vikings fell to 1-1 against the North and 1-16 overall. 

Up next for the Pioneers is a Jan. 18 trip to Brainerd to play the Central Lakes Raiders (1-0, 6-6)
