Visiting Central Lakes took advantage of a slow start by Northland to claim an 86-70 win Saturday at the Northland Gym.
The Raiders, who entered the game in a three-way tie for the top spot in the MCAC North, opened the game on a 6-0 run and pushed the lead to 20-5 at the 12-minute mark of the first half. The Raiders kept the pace up and took a 51-28 lead into the locker room.
The Pioneers got back to within 14 points points of the Raiders in the second half, but couldn't draw any closer. The Raiders improved to 10-2 in the MCAC North and 16-8 overall, and they are tied with Rainy River for the top spot. The Pioneers fell to 2-10 in the conference and 5-16 overall.
