MCAC Women's Basketball All-Division and All-MCAC Teams Released

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) women's basketball coaches have cast their votes and selected their 15-member MCAC North and South All-Division teams, MCAC All-Defensive team, division coaches-of-the-year, and division players-of-the-year for the 2022-23 season. The ten players receiving the most votes in each division were also named to the All-MCAC Team.
In the North Division, Alyssa Torgerson from Central Lakes College, was selected as the MCAC North Player-of-the-Year. The freshman center from Burnsville, MN, started 17 games for the Raiders, averaging 15.6 points per game and 10.4 rebounds per game this season. She shot 43.9% from the field and 70.8% from the free throw line on the season, while blocking 10 shots and stealing 31 balls. Torgerson helped her Raider team earn a share of the MCAC North title and will lead them into the NJCAA Region 13A Tournament on Saturday as the #2 seed from the North.
Krystal Brodeen, in her first season as the head women's basketball coach at Central Lakes College, was named the MCAC North Coach-of-the-Year after leading her team to a 14-7 overall record and 7-1 record in MCAC North play this season.
Olivia Hayenga, Minnesota West Community & Technical College guard, was selected as the MCAC South Player-of-the-Year. The freshman from Worthington, MN, averaged 19.9 points per game and shot 55.5% from the field and 69.1% from the free throw line in her 29 games this season. Hayenga also had 110 steals, 116 assists, and 57 blocks, while averaging 7.9 rebounds per game. Her Lady Jays finished the regular season with a 26-3 overall record, 12-2 in the MCAC South, and a national ranking of #3. The Lady Jays will take the #2 seed from the South into the NJCAA Region 13B Tournament on Saturday.
Minnesota West Community & Technical College head women's basketball coach, Rosalie Hayenga, and Rochester Community & Technical College's head women's basketball coach, Jason Bonde, were named Co-Coaches of the Year from the MCAC South Division. Hayenga led her team to a 26-3 overall record and 12-2 in the MCAC South. The Lady Jays are currently ranked #3 in the nation. Bonde has put together a perfect season, going 23-0 overall and 14-0 in the MCAC South. His Yellowjackets are ranked #1 in the country. Both coaches will have their teams competing in the Region 13 Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday.
