Virginia, Minn. - The Northland Community & Technical College women's basketball team won its third straight game and improved to 4-1 against MCAC North opponents with a 76-35 win over Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range Saturday afternoon in Virginia (MN). 

The Pioneers raced to a 16-5 lead through one quarter of play and never looked back. They led by 20 at halftime and 27 through three quarters of play, before a 21-7 fourth quarter scoring edge produced the final 41-point margin. Five Pioneers finished in double figures, led by 17 points from Riley Mooney. Mooney was a rebound shy of a double-double. 

Also reaching double figures for the Pioneers were Emma Osborn and Ashley Gereau with 13 points each, Shavonda Bender with 12 and Kasey Stegman with 10 poiints. 

The Pioneers (4-1, 10-9) are slated to host a pair of home games this week. On Wednesday night, they welcome Minnesota North College-Itasca (1-5, 1-20) for a 5:30 p.m. tip off. On Saturday, the Pioneers host MCAC North-leading Central Lakes (6-0, 13-6) for a 1 p.m. tip off.
