The Northland softball team posted a 1-2 record during its season-opening trip to Blaine, Minn. The Pioneers opened the weekend trip with an 8-7 walkoff win over Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range in game one Friday afternoon With the score tied 7-7, sophomore
Justine Pratcshler hit a solo home run to lift her team to the 8-7 win.
Game two was suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning with Northland trailing 18-13. The game was suspended due to the teams' reserved timeslot ending.
The Pioneers were back in action Saturday, where they suffered back-to-back losses to the Central Lakes Raiders by scores of 7-1 and 15-7.
The Pioneers are scheduled to play a pair of road series this weekend. They are scheduled to face Minnesota North College Rainy River in International Falls on Saturday, with games at noon and 2 p.m., before heading to Aurora on Sunday to face Minnesota North College - Vermilion with games at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
