The Northland Men's Basketball team gave up the lead late in a pair of weekend road losses. The Pioneers dropped their weekend opener, 72-65, to Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids Friday night. The next afternoon, the Pioneers came up short in a 53-47 loss to the Cyclones of St. Cloud Technical & Community College in St. Cloud. 

The Pioneers led by as many as seven points in the opening half Friday night against the Golden Rams. The first half featured a pair of ties and five lead changes, with the Golden Rams taking a 39-38 advantage into the locker room. The second half was more of the same as the Pioneers and Golden Rams were tied on 10 occasions with six lead changes. The Pioneers' final lead came on a layup by Etienne Aime with 4:50 remaining that put the Pioneers in front 63-61. The Golden Rams finished the game on an 11-2 run. 

Isaiah Brown and Daymone Ware both finished in double figures for the Pioneers, with Brown scoring 17 points and Ware finishing with 13. 

On Saturday, the Pioneers did not trail at any point during the opening 20 minutes while building a 27-21 halftime advantage. The Pioneers led by as many as nine in the second half but the Cyclones hung around and chipped away at the lead. The Cyclones took their first lead of the game, 43-42, with just under five minutes left to play. The final five minutes featured four lead changes, with the Pioneers' final lead coming with 2:47 left to play on a three-point bucket by Isaiah Brown that put his team in front 47-46. 

Brown and Zac'Cai Armstrong both reached double figures in scoring for the Pioneers with Brown scoring 11 and Armstrong adding 12. Tre Jones added 10 points coming off the bench. 

The Pioneers fell to 1-3 with the losses to Golden Rams and Cyclones. Up next for the Pioneers are a pair of home games. The Pioneers host the University of Jamestown Junior Varsity at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12 and they host Mayville State University JV on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
