Thief River Falls, Minn. - 

Slow starts in both the first and second half by the Nothland women's basketball team led to a 59-43 home loss to the University of Jamestown Tuesday night in the Northland gym. 

The Pioneers were held to just nine points in the first quarter, trailing 17-9 10 minutes into the game. The Pioneers used a late second-quarter run to make the score 30-25 at the break. The momentum gained in the second quarter was lost, however, as the Jimmies used a 19-9 third-quarter advantage to push the lead to 15 points going into the final quarter of play. The Pioneers held the Jimmies to just 10 points in the fourth quarter but were unable to gain any ground against the Jimmies' strong defense. 

Savannah Hedin led the Jimmies witth 25 points and she was a rebound away from a double-double. Also reaching double figures in scoring for the Jimmies was Alexa Ham, who scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. 

Northland sophomores Josie Iverson and Hannah Halvorson were the leading scorers for the Pioneers with 10 points each. Jade Reese was the Pioneers top rebounder with 10. 

The Pioneers fell to 2-2 with the loss. Up next for the Pioneers is a home game against Minnesota State Community & Technical College on Saturday, Nov. 16. Gametime is 1 p.m.
