Northland Community & Technical College dropped a 68-65 decision to Concordia College JV in a non-conference women's basketball game Tuesday night in Moorhead.     
The Pioneers continue to search for consistency after trading wins and losses through their first four games of the 2024-25 season. Tuesday night's loss was the second straight and third overall for the Pioneers, who were playing for the first time since suffering a 59-43 loss to the University of Jamestown on Nov. 12.   
Head Coach Shannon Nelson said her team is making progress.     
"I thought we improved on some things overall, especially in the first half," Nelson said. "We held them to just 24 points at the break but in the second half they attacked us on the boards and got to the free throw line 21 times."     
The Cobbers' size advantage presented problems on both ends of the court.     
"They played three bigs at all times which gave us some matchup problems that they took advantage of in the paint and on the boards," Nelson said. "We made some plays down the stretch to keep the game close and we had the ball down three with 11 seconds left. Tiyana [Schwinghammer] got a shot at the basket but it came up just short."     
The Pioneers were led in scoring by their three sophomore returners – Josie Iverson, 18, Hannah Halvorson, 16;  and Schwinghammer, 14. Halvorson led the Pioneers with nine rebounds and Iverson was the Pioneers' assist leader with seven.     
The Pioneers were back in action Friday night at home against NJCAA Division II Dakota College Bottineau at 5:30 p.m. They host NJCAA Divison I North Dakota State College of Science on Saturday at 2 p.m.
