Pioneers' rally comes up short in loss to Wolfpack

Bemidji, Minn. - 

Northland Community & Technical College couldn't get the shots to fall late in a 70-64 non-conference men's basketball loss to National Christian College Athletic Association member Oak Hills Christian College Tuesday night in Bemidji. 

The Pioneers trailed 34-30 at the end of a back-and-forth first half. They went on a 12-8 run to open the second half to tie the game with 14 minutes left in regulation and took their first lead of the half on a pair of free throws by Isaiah Brown

The Pioneers held their final lead of the contest with just over 10 minutes left to play. The Wolfpack used an 11-2 run to take a 57-50 lead with 7:05 left to play. The Pioneers clawed their way back to within two of the Wolfpack on several occasions in the waning minutes, with the latest being a 66-64 deficit with 1:24 left to play. The Pioneers failed to score the remainder of the game as the Wolfpack pulled out the win. 

The Pioneers will play two more road games this weekend, facing MCAC Southern Division opponents Anoka-Ramsey Community College on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m., and St. Cloud Technical & Community College on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. 

The next home action for the Pioneers will come on Tuesday, Nov. 12, against the University of Jamestown JV, with a 7:30 p.m. scheduled start.
