Storm Lake, Iowa - Northland sophomore Arionna Beatty battled her way to a fifth-place finish to lead the Northland women's wrestling team at the BVU Open Saturday at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. 

Beatty was originally slated to wrestle at 138 pounds, where she is ranked fourth by The Open Mat, and sixth in the NJCAA Coaches Poll. She missed weight by a few tenths of a pound and was forced to bump up to 145. Beatty made the most of the situation and went 5-1 on the day. She opened the tournament with a win by fall over Willow Stewart of Iowa Lakes. She lost by technical fall to eventual runner-up May Prado of Wartburg, and ended the tournament with three consecutive wins by fall over Madilyn Rowson of Central College, Meridian Snitker of Ellworth, and Nina Aceves of Iowa Lakes. 

Also competing at 145 for the Pioneers was freshman Brianna Berg. Berg scored two takedowns to open her first-round match against Dana Clevland of Wartburg. Berg then locked up a cradle and came close to turning Cleveland for a potential fall. Cleveland worked her way out of the cradle and caught Berg on her back to secure the fall. Cleveland went on to pin her way to a championship. Berg bounced back with a 20-second pin over Kayeleigh Bowden of Buena Vista in the first round of consolation wrestling. Her day came to an end one match later, with a loss by fall to Meridian Snitker of Ellsowrth.
