Fourth-ranked Minnesota North College - Rainy River pulled away late in the first half and cruised to a 104-70 win over Northland Community & Technical College in an MCAC North men's basketball game Saturday in International Falls.
The Pioneers led for the majority of the first 10 minutes of the game, including a 15-14 advantage at the 10-minute mark. The host Voyageurs took control of the game win an improbable 29-2 run over the next eight minutes to take a 43-17 lead.
The Pioneers righted the ship for the remainder of the half but still trailed 48-26 at the break.
The Voyageurs had three players reach double figures in scoring, led by a 23-point afternoon from Christian Pujals.
Top scorers for the Pioneers were
Tavon Petteway with 23 points, and
Randy Harris with 15 points.
