Thief River Falls, Minn. -
Northland Community & Technical College held off a second half Central Lakes rally to win the MCAC Northern Division championship in women's basketball with a 66-59 Saturday afternoon at the Northland Gym in Thief River Falls.
The Pioneers built a 46-28 lead through one half of play, but the Raiders outscored the Pioneers 18-7 in the third quarter to make it a seven-point game with 10 minutes remaining. The Pioneers led by as many as 12 in the final period and held strong for the seven-point win.
Sophomore
Emma Osborn scored 20 points, including an amazing 6-for-9 effort from outside the three-point arc. Freshman
Josie Iverson also reached double figures with 15 points.
Both teams advance to postseason play, with the Pioneers earning the top seed in the Region XIIIB Tournament and the Raiders earning the two-seed in Region XIIIA.
