The Northland softball team dropped both games in Saturday's doubleheader against Central Lakes College in Brainerd. The Host Raiders took game one 11-2 in five innings, before completing the sweep with a 13-1 win in game two.
Offensively, the Pioneers were led by
Jada Kosmatka and
Reese Rustad with two hits a piece and a run scored in game one.
Shavonda Bender and
Mariah Graves picked up RBIs. Kosmatka,
Kennedy Wallace, Rustad, Emilee Tate and
Anneke Lacina picked up hits in game two, with Wallace scoring the team's lone run and Tate recording the lone RBI.
Defensively, the Pioneers struggled to get outs, as the Raiders scored 24 runs on 20 hits and nine walks. Wallace took the loss in game one, allowing 8.0 earned runs over four innings of work. Graves suffered the loss in game two after allowing seven earned runs over four innings.
Up next: The Pioneers play at home for the first time during the 2024 season Saturday, April 13 with a doubleheader against Minnesota North College - Hibbing. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
