Concordia College Junior Varsity defeated Northland Community & Technical College in a five-set women's volleyball battle that came down to the final point Wednesday night at the Northland Gym.
The Pioneers and Cobbers traded leads throughout the evening. The Cobbers took the opening set 25-21, but the Pioneers bounced back and won the second set 27-25 and the third set by a 25-17 score. 
The Pioneers had a shot to win the match in four sets, but a late rally gave the Cobbers the fourth set by a score of 25-22 to set up a decisive fifth set. 
The score was even early in the fifth set. The Pioneers pulled ahead late and led 13-11 at one point. The Cobbers won three straight points to get to match point with a 14-13 advantage. The Pioneers forced extra points for the second time that night, but they couldn't regain the lead as the Cobbers eventually took the match-clinching set 17-15.
