The Northland Community & Technical College Men's Basketball Team dropped a pair of road games Friday and Saturday, falling to MCAC North rival Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range 86-81 on Friday night in Virginia, Minn., before wrapping up the road trip with a 69-58 loss to NJCAA Division II Gogebic on Saturday afternoon. 

The Pioneers trailed 42-34 at the break in Friday night's contest against the Norse. The Pioneers rallied in the second half, but came up short in the five-point loss. Friday's game marked the eighth time that the Pioneers have lost by seven points or less. Zeke Aime, 21, Tre Jones, 16, Etienne Aim,14, Daveion Turner, 13, and Isaiah Brown, 11, all reached double figures for the Pioneers in the high-scoring game. 

Jayvion Jackson led the Norse in scoring with 21 points, while teammate Tristan Coleman had a big day on the boards with 15 points. 

The Pioneers wrapped up the road trip against the Samsons on Saturday. Saturday's game was close throughout the first half, with the teams playing to a 30-30 tie through the first 20 mintues of action. 

The Pioneers led 33-32 following an old fashioned three-point play by Isaiah Brown 45 seconds into the second half. The Samsons answered with 10-0 run to go in front 42-33 with 15:52 left to play in the half and they played with the lead for the remainder of the game. 

Gogebic's Enrique Moreno-Bautista led all scorers with 23 points. Jones was the Pioneers' top scorer with 21 points. Brown and Etienne Aime also reached double figures in scoring for the Pioneers with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
