Grand Rapids, Minn. - 

Northland Community & Technical College fell 65-59 to Minnesota North College - Itasca in an MCAC North men's basketball game Wednesday night in Grand Rapids. 

The host Vikings opened the game on a 7-0 run, but the Pioneers regrouped and finished the first half by outscoring the Vikings 27-18 over the final 16 minutes to take a 27-25 lead into the locker room. 

The Pioneers led 46-42 with 10:57 remaining but failed to score over the next 5:33 as the Vikings used a 13-0 run in the second half to take control of the game. 

The Pioneers broke the scoreless streak with a Daymon Ware layup to make it 55-48 with 5:14 remaining. From there, the Pioneers would get to within four points of the Vikings on three occasions, including a 63-59 deficit with 15 seconds remaining, but they were unable to draw any closer as the Vikings hung on for the win. 

Zeke Aime and Tre Jones both scored 14 points while coming off the bench for the Pioneers. Lewis Jones also reached double digits in scoring for the Pioneers with 11 points. 

Nderius Walker had a big night for the Vikings, scoring 20 points while collecting 10 rebounds in 40 minutes of work. 

The Pioneers are back in action Saturday against Minnesota North College - Rainy River in International Falls. Game time is 1 p.m.
