Jade Reese and
Tiyana Schwinghammer combined for 31 points to lead the Northland women's basketball team to a 77-46 win over Minnesota North College - Itasca Wednesday night in Grand Rapids.
The win was Northland's 12th overall and ninth straight during the 2024-25 season. The Pioneers have made fast starts a habit this year and Wednesday night was no exception. The Pioneers never trailed Wednesday night, leading by two scores a minute into the game and 26-11 at the end of the first quarter.
The Pioneers added to their lead throughout the night, taking a 45-26 lead into the halftime break, before building a 65-37 lead through three quarters of play.
The Pioneers out-rebounded the Vikings 41-26 and held a decisive edge in field goal percentage 49.2 (32-for-65) to 33.3 (16-for-48).
Reese, 16, Schwinghammer, 15, and
Rylie Klopp, 11, finished in double figures for the Pioneers. Reese added a dozen rebounds to a team-leading 16 points for a double-double.
The Vikings were led by Lilia Pemberton with 13 points.
The Pioneers are back in action at home Monday night (Jan. 13) with a make-up game against MState-Fergus. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
