Moorhead, Minn. - 

Northland wrestlers Gabriel Michels and Christian Kirchner won championships at Concordia College's Last Shot Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 8. 

Michels went 3-0 with a pair of bonus-point wins to claim the 125-pound championship. Michels opened the day with a 15-0 technical fall win over Jeison Ingram of Concordia College. He overcame an early takedown and 3-0 deficit against Zairyn Ramos-Semana of the University of Jamestown with a second-period win by fall. In the championship match, Michels used a third-period ridout to secure a 4-2 win over Marcus Hayes of St. Johns. 

Kirchner went 3-0 to claim the championship at 149 pounds. Competing in a five-man round robin, Kirchner defeated Concordia wrestlers Jack Major and Jackson Marr by scores of 8-4 and 2-1, and he won by 21-6 technical fall over Cohen Schleich of Dickinson State, before medically forfeiting to teammate Kale Geiser in his final match. 

Also placing for the Pioneers were Kameron Palmer, fifth at 133; Ethan Horn, sixth at 141; Kale Geiser, fourth at 149; Mitchell Christen, fifth at 157; and Qilee Jackson, fourth at 184.
