Thief River Falls, Minn. - 

Third-ranked Northland Community & Technical College won its 15th straight game overall and a perfect 7-0 in MCAC North games with an 88-29 win over Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range Wednesday nigth in Thief River Falls. 

The Pioneers showcased their strength on both ends of the court with the 69-point margin of victory. Wednesday night's game was the ninth time that the Pioneers have scored 80 or more points. It was also the second consecutive game and third time overall that the Pioneers held their opponents under 30 points. 

The Pioneers opened the game on an 8-0 run and led 25-12 at the break. Any chance at a comeback by the Norse was quickly ended when the Pioneers shut the Norse out in the second quarter with a 28-0 advantage. The Pioneers outscored the Norse 35-17 in the second half. 

Scoring leaders for the Pioneers were sophomores Tiyana Schwinghammer with 18 points, Josie Iverson with 14 and Hannah Halvorson with 10, and freshman Sierra Westberg with 10 points. Freshman Kinsley Hanson led the Pioneers on the boards with 12 rebounds, and Iverson led the Pioneers in assists with seven. 

The Pioneers wrap up their home regular season schedule on Saturday against Gogebic at noon.
