Northland Community & Technical College went 2-2 over the course of two doubleheaders Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22 at the Blaine Dome in Blaine. The Pioneers opened the four-game, two-day road trip with a pair of losses to the MCAC North-favorite Central Lakes Raiders. The Raiders raced out to leads early in both games and didn't look back with a 24-1 win in game one and an 18-2 win in game two. Both games were called after five innings.Â
The Pioneers bounced back from the Friday setbacks to secure their first win and later first sweep of the season Saturday morning against Minnesota North College - Vermilion. The Pioneers defeated the Ironhawks 15-4 in game one and they completed the sweep with a 12-3 win in game two.Â
The Pioneers are off until the April 12-13 weekend. They travel to Virginia (Minn.) to play MNC-Mesabi Range on April 12 in a doubleheader, and they remain on the road April 13 for a road doubleheader against MNC-Rainy River on April 13. The Pioneers' home opener is slated for Wednesday, April 16 against MNC-Itasca.Â
