The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of April 7-13.
Hunter Guenther, a right-handed pitcher for Century College, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Guenther started one game, throwing a complete game three-hit shutout. He struck out eight batters and did not walk anyone on his way to the 11-0 win over Riverland Community College.
Seth Tierney, designated hitter for Century College, hit .389, going 7 for 18 this week. Tierney hit a double and three home runs, while also adding 10 RBI to his stat line. He also scored five runs and walked four times to earn this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
Isaac Hamann, a right-handed pitcher for Alexandria Technical and Community College, started in one game and threw a complete game three-hitter. Hamann did not give up a run and struck out three, while walking one. For his performance, Hamann earned the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor.
Hayden Frank, right fielder for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, went 14 for 24, hitting .583, with two doubles, two triples, and two home runs. Frank drove in 10 runs and scored 12, while walking once. He also stole four bases to earn this week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
Justin Amesquita, a left-handed pitcher for Northland Community and Technical College, was named this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honoree. Amesquita appeared in four games, throwing 5.2 innings of relief work. In his outings, he gave up only one hit, no runs, and struck out 7, while walking one.
Thomas Vekich, third baseman for Minnesota North College-Itasca, 10 for 16 from the plate, hitting .625 on the week. He hit two doubles, two triples, and a home run, driving in 10 runs and scoring three times while walking twice. Vekich hit for the cycle in the fourth game of the series to earn the week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
