Northland Community & Technical College swept late afternoon MCAC Northern Division baseball doubleheader Saturday against Minnesota North College - Rainy River to improve to 18-17 overall and a perfect 10-0 in division play. The game was moved to Bemidji State University due to MNC-Rainy River's home field being unplayable.
The Pioneers broke a 3-3 deadlock with five runs in the top of the fifth and two runs in the top of the sixth to defeat the Voyageurs 10-3 in game one.

Kyle Robinson went the distance for the Pioneers and picked up the win. He struck out one and allowed two earned runs on seven hits without walking a batter.
The Pioneers stayed hot offensively in game two, plating three in each of their first two at bats. The Voyageurs were also productive at the plate early scoring two runs in the first and a run in the second to make the score 6-3 through two.
Following a scoreless third inning, the Pioneers broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning to go in front 12-3. The Voyageurs got a run back in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 12-4. The score would remain 12-4 until the top of the seventh. The Pioneers tacked on a couple insurance runs to make the score 14-4 through six and a half, and they would hang on for the 14-5 win.
After going hitless in game one,
Joshua Torres went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs in game two.
Justin Amesquita doubled and batted in a run as part of a 2-for-3 effort with three runs scored in game two. Vasquez also doubled as part of a 4-for-5 evening with six RBI.
Northland pitchers
Brandon Castilleja and
Kendrick Richinsin combined to allow five runs, three of which were earned, on six hits with seven strikeouts and seven walks.
