The Northland softball team saw its season come to an end Thursday with a pair of shutout losses at the Region 13B Tournament. The Pioneers dropped their playoff opener to top-seeded Central Lakes 11-0 in five innings and they exited the playoffs with a 21-0 loss to second-seeded Minnesota West in an elimination game.
Central Lakes claimed the Region 13B championship with an 11-1 win over Minnesota North-Itasca in the semifinal and a 5-1 win over Minnesota West in the championship game.
Minnesota West lost to MNC-Itasca by a 7-6 score in the opening round but bounced with wins over Northland, 21-0, and MNC-Itasca, 11-3, to secure a spot in the championship.
