Five sophomores played their final home volleyball matches Wednesday night as the Northland Pioneers swept Minnesota North College - Rainy River 3-0 in the Northland Gym. Setter

Grace Loeslie and
Kennedy Wallace are sophomores on this year's team. All five were in the starting lineup Wednesday as the Pioneers defeated the Voyageurs 25-19, 27-25, 25-16.
Edin finished with 27 assists. Freshman
Riley Gust led the Pioneers with 15 kills and freshman Jada Kosmtaka was the only Pioneer to reach double digits in digs with 11.
The win over MNC-Rainy River is Northland's third in three head-to-head meetings this year. In addition to being the final home match of the season, Wednesday's match was also the final regular season match for Co-Head Coaches Abdul Chamma and
Courtney Nordby. Both are stepping down at season's end and the search is underway for a new head coach.
Northland clinched a postseason berth for the sixth consecutive season on Friday, Oct. 13 with a 3-1 road win at Minnesota North College - Itasca. The Pioneers (13-10 overall, 6-6 conference) will be seeded fourth in Region 13A. They will face the Centry College (24-4 overall, 13-2 conference), the top finisher in the MCAC South, in the opening round Friday, Oct. 27 at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
